Use the FMS Knob or the ENT Key to scroll through the METAR and TAF
text. Note that the METAR text must be completely scrolled through before
scrolling through the TAF text.
Todisplay the METAR legendon the GFDSWeatherData Link Page,select the
LEGENDSoftkeywhenMETARsareselectedfordisplay.
Winds Aloft
Winds Aloft data shows the forecasted wind speed and direction at the surface and
atselectedaltitudes.Altitudecanbedisplayedin3,000-footincrementsupto42,000
feet MSL.
Displaying Winds Aloft data
1)
Select the GFDS Weather Data Link Page.
2)
Select the
MORE WX
Softkey.
3)
Select the
WIND
Softkey.
4)
Select the desired altitude level: SFC (surface) up to 42,000 feet. Select
the
NEXT
or
PREV
Softkey to cycle through the altitude softkeys. The
WIND
Softkey label changes to reflect the altitude selected.
To display the Winds Aloft legend, select the LEGEND Softkey when Winds Aloft
is selected for display.
PIREPs
PilotWeatherReports(PIREPs)describein-ightweatherencounteredbypilots.
A PIREP may contain unforecast adverse weather conditions, such as low in-ight
visibility,icingconditions,windshear,turbulence,andtypeofaircraftown.PIREPs
areissuedaseitherRoutine(UA)orUrgent(UUA).
Displaying PIREP text
1)
Select the GFDS Weather Data Link Page.
2)
Select the
MORE WX
Softkey.
3)
Select the
PIREPS
Softkey.
4)
Press the RANGE Knob and pan to the desired weather report. A gray
circle will appear around the weather report when it is selected.
5)
Press the ENT Key. The PIREP text is first displayed in a decoded fashion,
then as raw text.
