1)
While the Terrain-SVS Page is displayed, press the MENU Key.
2)
Turn the small FMS Knob to select ‘Enable Terrain’.
3)
Press the ENT Key.
NOTE: If Terrain-SVS alerts are inhibited when the Final Approach Fix is the
active waypoint in a GPS SBAS approach, a LOW ALT annunciation may appear
on the PFD next to the altimeter if the current aircraft altitude is at least 164
feet below the prescribed altitude at the Final Approach Fix.
TERRAIN AWARENESS & WARNING SYSTEM (TAWS-B) DISPLAY (OPTIONAL)
WARNING: Do not use the terrain avoidance feature as the sole means of
navigation and terrain separation. The terrain avoidance feature is only to
be used as and aid to terrain avoidance. Garmin obtains terrain database
content from third party sources and is not able to independently verify the
accuracy of the terrain data.
NOTE: Terrain data is not displayed when the aircraft is outside the installed
terrain database coverage area.
NOTE: TAWS-B operation is only available when the G1000 is configured for
a TAWS-B installation.
Manual System Test
1)
While the TAWS-B Page is displayed, press the MENU Key.
2)
Turn the small FMS Knob to select ‘Test TAWS’.
3)
Press the ENT Key. During the test ‘TAWS TEST’ is displayed in the center
of the TAWS-B Page.
When all is in working order, “TAWS System Test, OK” is heard.
Display Terrain on the TAWS-B Page
1)
Turn the large FMS Knob to select the Map Page Group.
2)
Turn the small FMS Knob to select the TAWS-B Page.
3)
If desired, press the VIEW Softkey to access the ARC and 360 softkeys.
When the ARC Softkey is pressed, a radar-like 120° view is displayed.
Press the 360 Softkey to return to the 360° default display.
