4.10.2.2 Pitch Trim Servo Slip Clutch Torque Check
1. Press the small FMS knob to activate the cursor. Rotate the large FMS knob to highlight the
SELECT SERVO AXIS field. Rotate the small FMS knob to display the drop down menu then rotate
the small FMS knob to select the PITCH TRIM SERVO and press ENT.
2. Verify that the PFT status fields show PASSED.
IMPORTANT!
If the test must be stopped, firmly grasp the aircraft control being moved and press
the red AP DISC switch on the aircraft control stick. If an abnormal disconnect of a
servo occurs, reset AFCS circuit breaker and repeat the step.
3. Verify that the aircraft control surface to be checked is free to travel throughout its range of motion.
4. Position the Pitch Trim Wheel in the TAKE OFF (TO) position.
5. Press the TEST SVO softkey. Use the large FMS knob to highlight YES and press the ENT key.
6. Verify the MFD shows a white CAS message CLUTCH PTRM PRO, which indicates that the test of
the stated axis is in progress.
7. Verify the PITCH TRIM SERVO drives the control surface to the NOSE UP stop.
8. After approximately a 25 second data collection period has expired, verify the servo automatically
drives in the opposite direction and begins data collections for the NOSE DOWN stop.
9. Allow the PITCH TRIM SERVO to drive the control surface to the NOSE DOWN stop.
10. After approximately a 25 second data collection period has expired, verify the MFD shows the CLUTCH
PTRM PAS message.
11. Press the ENT key to acknowledge the COMPLETE prompt on the PFD.
12. If the MFD shows the CLUTCH PTRM FAIL message repeat the test twice in the failed axis. If the
test does not pass, the GSM 86 slip clutch cartridge must be replaced or tested using the Manual Slip
Clutch Test Procedure, Section 4.10.3.
IMPORTANT!
The Min and Max Torque values displayed on the MFD should not be used to
determine whether the test passed or failed. Only the presence of the CAS message
CLUTCH PTRM PASS on the MFD can make sure that the test passed in a given
axis.
NOTE
The CAS messages for CLUTCH PTRM PAS or CLUTCH PTRM FAIL will
remain in the CAS window until aircraft power is removed. On the next aircraft
power up the messages will be removed.
13. Firmly grasp the control stick and press the red AP DISC button on the control stick to relieve any
control tension.
