Replacement:
1. Inspect the output gear for abnormal wear or the absence of grease. Grease is required
whenever the servo motor and servo mount is separated.Refer to Section 4.8 and grease the
gear.
2. Carefully place the servo into the servo mount, ensuring proper orientation and alignment.
There should be no gap between the servo motor and mount. If there is a gap, slide the motor
on the mount until it aligns and falls into place, removing the gap.
3. Fasten the servo to the servo mount using the existing hardware. DO NOT USE THE
HARDWARE TO PULL THE MOTOR AND MOUNT TOGETHER IF THERE IS A GAP!
Doing so will require replacing the servo mount.
4. Inspect the harness connectors and check that no pins are bent or otherwise damaged.
Connect the harness and secure it appropriately.
5. If no further maintenance is required, replace the servo access panels and continue to Section
8.3.
6.11 GSM 85 & GSM 86 Servo Mounts
Removal:
1. Remove the desired servo(s) per Section 6.10.
2. De-rig the flight control cabling or chain (Table 1-2 lists the servo installation drawings; refer
to these for removal details).
3. Use a socket or open-wrench to loosen and remove the servo attachment bolts.
4. Carefully remove the servo mount.
Replacement:
1. Follow the installation instructions provided in the respective servo installation drawings
listed in Table 1-2.
2. If no other maintenance is to be performed, reinstall the servo(s) per Section 6.10.
6.12 Configuration Module Removal & Replacement
Configuration modules (Item 1 shown below) are located in the following LRU harness connector
backshells (Item 6): GDU 1040 PFD, GRS 77 AHRS, GDC 74A Air Data Computer, and the GEA 71
Engine/Airframe Unit. Refer to the G1000/DA40 Install Drawing, 005-00304-00, for installation
locations.
NOTE
If the PFD configuration module is replaced, the G1000 system ID number will change.
You will need to replace the Terrain database cards, Feature Unlock Cards (TAWS, SVT,
Chartview, Enhanced Search and Rescue, Enhanced AFCS) and update the Jeppesen
Navigation database since they will be locked to the old system ID number. Database
download accounts with Garmin and Jeppesen will also need to be updated with the new
System ID number. If the optional GDL59 and/or GSR56 is installed the GFDS
registration will need to be re-accomplished. Contact Garmin for assistance in
determining which cards and services are affected.
