8.2.3 Display Failure Test
This test verifies redundant systems operate as intended, including automatic transition to reversionary
mode. For this test:
• Provide a valid localizer signal to NAV1 and NAV2.
• Engage the autopilot by pressing the AP key on the MFD, if equipped.

Step Desired Result
MFD Display Failure Conditions:
1. Remove power from MFD.
2. Check for desired results.
3. Restore power to MFD.
The following shall occur when power is removed
from the MFD:
9 PFD switches to reversion mode.
9 AFCS does not disconnect.*
9 Attitude and Heading remain valid on PFD.
9 Airspeed, Altitude, Vertical Speed, and OAT remain
valid on PFD.
9 Valid Engine Instrumentation appears on PFD.
9 XPDR field remains valid on PFD.
9 COM2/NAV2 fields flag invalid.
9 NAV2 CDI deviation bar is removed.
9 ADF/DME windows flag invalid.*
9 “GDL 69 Fail” alert is given.*
9 XTALK ERROR alert is given.
9 ESP OFF alert is given*
9 GDL 59 FAIL alert is given*
PFD Display Failure Conditions:
1. Remove power from PFD.
2. Check for desired results.
3. Restore power to PFD.
The following shall occur when power is removed
from the PFD:
9 MFD switches to reversion mode.
9 AFCS disconnects.*
9 Attitude and Heading remain valid on the MFD.
9 Airspeed, Altitude, Vertical Speed, and OAT remain
valid on the MFD.
9 MFD retains engine instrumentation.
9 Valid XPDR field appears on MFD.
9 COM1/NAV 1 fields flag invalid.
9 NAV1 CDI deviation bar is removed.
9 XTALK ERROR alert is given.
9 ESP FAIL alert is given*
*If Equipped.
