2.8 Shield Block Grounds
Most G1000 connectors employ a Shield Block grounding system to provide necessary ground reference
to wire shielding and/or transducers. The shield block termination method allows multiple grounds to be
terminated directly to a block mounted to the connector backshell assembly. Refer to G1000/DA40
Install Drawing, 005-00304-00 for installation details. Note that pre-2008 G1000 installations may
employ a slightly different shield grounding system called a “SPIDER” system. Note that aircraft
changing from a FAA certification to an EASA certification will require changing the SPIDER grounding
system to the shield block method.
