5.11 GEA Troubleshooting
5.11.1 GEA Common Problems

Symptom Recommended Action
CHT, EGT, and TIT are red X’d
(no other field is red X’d)
Ensure the GEA configuration module and thermocouple wiring and pins are
not damaged.
Replace the GEA configuration module and thermocouple.
One or more CHT, EGT, or TIT
temperatures drop as electrical
load increases
Check temperature probe(s) for opens (usually where bayonet is cramped)
Replace defective temperature probe(s)
One or more CHT, EGT, or TIT
temperatures drift up and flag
Fuel quantity flags intermittently
Check for an open in the wiring and connectors between the GEA, signal
conditioner, and the sender (hi, low, or signal ground lines)
Check for 5 volt excitation shorted to ground between the GEA, signal
conditioner, and sender.
Check fuel sender for an open or dead spot
Engine instruments are missing
on the MFD
Clear user data on each GDU by holding down the CLR button while
powering on each GDU.
