G1000 System Maintenance Manual – Diamond DA40/40F Page 3-5
190-00545-01 Revision G
3.3 G1000 Configuration Mode Overview
The Configuration Mode exists to provide the avionics technician with a means of configuring, checking,
and calibrating various G1000 sub-systems. Troubleshooting and diagnostics information can also be
viewed in this mode.
To start the system in Configuration Mode:
1. Start the system in normal mode as described in Section 3.2.1.
2. Remove power to the PFD and MFD by pulling the circuit breakers labeled PFD and MFD.
3. Press and hold the ENT key on the PFD while applying power using the PFD circuit breaker.
4. Release the ENT key after ‘INITIALIZING SYSTEM’ appears in the upper left corner of the
PFD.
5. Power on the MFD in the same manner. You must have both displays in Configuration Mode
whenever performing post-installation practices.
NOTE
It is good practice to cycle power to the entire G1000 system, not just the displays,
anytime software loading, configuration or other maintenance procedures have been
completed.
CAUTION
The Configuration Mode contains certain pages and settings that are critical to aircraft
operation and safety. These pages are protected and cannot be modified, unless the
technician is properly authorized and equipped. However, most protected pages are
viewable to allow system awareness for troubleshooting.
NOTE
For a complete description and breakdown of each Configuration Mode page, refer to the
G1000 Line Maintenance & Configuration Manual, Garmin part number 190-00303-04.
NOTE
Throughout this document when performing configuration or software uploads reference
is made to two fields, “AIRFRAME” and “FILE for software versions SW v0321.19 or
earlier and “GROUP” and ITEM for SW v0321.22 or later. When either of these terms is
referenced in this document their function is synonymous for the specific items being
loaded.
