Symptom Recommended Action
Terrain/TOPO Data does not display
Ensure supplemental data cards are inserted correctly in the lower slots of
both GDU’s.
Allow the system to verify the data on the cards for approximately five
minutes after power-up.
9 If the databases do not activate, reload the Terrain and Obstacle
databases onto the SD Card or replace the card.
Display will not track photocell
Go to the GDU TEST page in configuration mode. Cover and uncover the
photocell and verify the PHOTOCELL A or PHOTOCELL B value changes.
9 If problem persists, replace defective display.
Keyboard will not track photocell
Display will not track dimmer bus
Check display lighting settings on the Main Lighting page (system group
page 3).
Check presence or integrity of pin 59 (J10001).
Check dimmer bus to verify voltage (refer to the airframe specific
maintenance manual for troubleshooting).
Switch MFD and PFD:
9 If problem follows unit, replace defective display.
Keyboard will not track dimmer bus
Display delaminating Replace GDU, reference Garmin Service Bulletin 0527.

SW MISMATCH – GDU software
version mismatch. Xtalk is off.
The system has found the PFD
and MFD software versions do not
match.
Load correct software version. See
Section 3.5 for the software loading
procedure.
MANIFEST – PFD1 software
mismatch. Communication
Halted.
The system has detected an
incorrect software version loaded
in the PFD.
MANIFEST – MFD1 software
mismatch. Communication
Halted.
The system has detected an
incorrect software version loaded
in MFD.
CNFG MODULE – PFD1
configuration module is
inoperative.
The PFD configuration module
has failed.
Check PFD configuration module
connector and wiring for damage inside
the GDU connector backshell.
Replace PFD configuration module,
refer to Section 6.12:
9 If problem persists, replace
PFD configuration module
wiring and/or pins.
