7.10.1.1
GDL59 / GSR 56 Combination Option
1. On the MFD, using the large FMS knob, select the AUX page group, then using the small FMS
knob, select the AUX-TELEPHONE page.
2. Ensure the system is displaying Iridium signal strength in green, Figure 7-24. If the Iridium
signal strength is displayed in blue there is no signal present.

3. On the GMA, press TEL button.
4. On the MFD, press the DIAL softkey.
5. On the MFD, enter the test phone number in the ENTER PHONE NUMBER field using the FMS
knobs or softkeys on the lower bezel.
6. On the MFD, press the ENT key to accept the phone number.
7. On the MFD, press the ENT key to initiate the dialing sequence.
When call is complete, on the MFD, press the HANGUP softkey on the AUX – TELEPHONE page to
end the call.
7.10.1.2 GSR 56 Standalone Option
1. Press the FPL button on the MFD and enter a simple flight plan.
2. Access the MAP – WEATHER DATA LINK page by turning the large FMS knob to select the
MAP page group and then turning the small FMS knob to select the Weather Data Link page.
3. On the MFD, select the MENU softkey.
4. On the MFD, use the large or small FMS knob and select DISPLAY GFDS WEATHER, then
press ENT and verify the following:
• MAP – Weather Data Link page header has (GFDS) after the page name.
• GFDS Data Request window opens.
5. Rotate the large FMS knob on the MFD to select the following coverage options
• PRESENT POSITION
• FPL
